Louth Honour RollPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War Two.
Dancing enthusiasts are reminded that a grand dance will be held at Louth on Saturday, 3rd August, the occasion being the unveiling of the Memorial Honor Roll. Mr. Donald Fraser (President of R.S.S. & A.I.L.A, of Bourke) will perform the unveiling ceremony at 10 o'clock. All ex service personnel are free and cordially invited to attend. Novelty dances will be arranged, and a good supper. Music by the Bourke Merrymakers' Orchestra.
Western Herald (Bourke, NSW), 26 July 1946.
At 10 o'clock Mr. Bert Doohan called for a short recess for the principal attraction of the evening, the unveiling of the Honor Roll. After all local and visiting ex-servicemen had assembled at end of Hall near the Roll, Mr. Doohan pointed out the object of the gathering. He said the Roll was contributed by the residents of Louth and District through the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Allan Mitchell (President of the Chamber) was unable to be present, as he had been called away. The first purpose of the dance was to unveil the Honor Roll; the second was to welcome all ex-Servicemen of the recent and Great Wars. He would like to pay tribute to these men. The Honor Roll is an attractive Board, made of polished timber with the lettering in gold.
