The insignia and mottos of the three ships fill the upper section of the window, together with an image ofa vessel in profile: HMAS Kanimbla 'Cry Havoc", HMAS Manoora 'Nux Vomica' and HMAS Westralia 'Fides et Audax', all Armed Merchant Cruisers and then Landing Ships Infantry. Second World War battle honours were listed as Indian Ocean 1940-42, Pacific 1941-45, New Guinea 1943-44, Leyte Gulf 1944, Lingayen Gulf 1945 and Borneo 1945. This is one of very few of the many chapel windows which the artist, Dacre Smyth, signed.

The Armed merchant cruisers were made by requisitioning large ships and providing them with guns and other equipment. They ranged from 6,000–22,000 long tons (6,100–22,400 t). The armament varied but six 6 in (150 mm) guns with 3 in (76 mm) guns as secondary was usual. From 1941, many served as troopships.
