Royal Australian Navy SloopsPrint Page Print this page

The window commemorates the service to Australia and the British Commonwealth of RAN Sloops Parramatta ,Yarra, Swan and Warrego during World War Two and is in memory of the 280 personnel who lost their lives when the Parramatta and Yarra were sunk during the conflict.

The right-hand light of this three-light window was installed in 1995, fifty years after peace came to the world at the end of the Second World War, a sentiment reinforced by the Dove of Peace placed at the head of the arch. Insignia of HMAS Swan 'Forward' and HMAS Warrego 'We lead Others Follow' were inserted above a laurel wreath encircling the insignia of HMAS Parramatta 'Strike Deep' and HMAS Yarra 'Hunt and Strike'.
