Circular Head World War Two MemorialPrint Page Print this page

The memorial commemorates those from the district who served in World War Two. The memorial lists the names of every soldier who enlisted from Circular Head.

The Circular Head RSL Centenary Committee will unveil the much awaited World War Two Memorial at ANZAC Park on ANZAC Day this year.

The plans were to have the memorial completed and unveiled in 2021.  Unfortunately with COVID 19 restrictions, delays and rising costs the project had to be put on hold.

With over 1100 enlisted for World War Two from a population of around 7210 in 1942 it has been a massive task with compiling the research on the World War Two veterans who enlisted from Circular Head.  This research has been completed and overseen by Patrick Bakes, with the Circular Head Christian School Grade 9 LED History Class assisting with the Prisoners of War and Gillian Haines researching the women.

The Circular Head RSL Sub Branch and The Circular Head RSL Centenary Committees are extremely appreciative of the many hours of work they have contributed to the research.

The World War Two Memorial will list the names of every veteran who enlisted from Circular Head. We would like to extend an invitation to all family members of the World War Two veterans to attend the service.
