Silverton War Memorial Youth Camp Print Page
The War Memorial Youth Camp was established in memory of those who served in World War Two. Inside the building is a roll of honour commemorating those from the district who served in World War Two.
Silverton Memorial Camp.
At Silverton this afternoon the War Memorial Youth Camp will be officially opened. The ceremony will be per-formed by Mr. R. Pitman Hooper. Mr. R. L. Hepburn (vice-president of the Silverton War Memorial Fund) will preside.
Mr. A. S. Palmer, on behalf of R.S.S. and A.I.L.A., will unveil a roll of honor containing. the names of residents from the Silverton district who served in the last war. All men who served are invited to be present. Although official invitations have been sent to civic, educational and industrial interests, the general public from Bro-ken Hill and district and indeed, from anywhere, are also invited to attend. It is expected that there will be a big at-tendance.
Any organisation engaged in youth welfare, whether male or female, may use the camp which is a credit to those who have so transformed the old Courthouse building. The camp and its facilities will be open for inspection, in the evening a dance will be held in the camp hall.
