A Book of Remembrance commemorating those of the congregation who served in the 1939 - 45 war, a stained glass memorial window and several items of church furnishings were dedicated at a special service in the Parkes Church on Sunday afternoon, November 27. The Rev. R. B. Lew, B.A., President of the Conference, conducted the service. The memorial and other gifts which complete the interior of the church, and add greatly to its appearance, include additions to the reredos panelling along the back wall. The Trustees of the church were responsible for this work.
Three members of the congregationwho gave their lives in the 1939-45 war, and all those who served are commemorated in the Book of Remembrance, which rests on its special stand, with a torch of remembrance above it. Each page of the book is devoted to one serviceman or woman and contains a photograph of the member concerned and particulars of his or her unit and service. Lance Corporal Norman Ede Pearce, Staff Sergeant Alan John Stanton and Lieutenant Robert Deem, who lost their lives on active service, are specially commemorated in the Book of Remembrance, which was the gift of Mr. J.
