On May 8, 1945 - known as Victory in Europe Day or VE Day - celebrations erupted around the world to mark the end of World War Two in Europe.
VP (Victory in the Pacific) Day is celebrated on 15 August. This date commemorates Japan's acceptance of the Allied demand for unconditional surrender [made on] 14 August 1945. ... The following day, 15 August, is usually referred to as VP Day.
