The plaque commemorates the landing of Lancaster Bomber aircraft "G for George" in Loxton on the Third Victory Tour in April 1945 during World War Two.

"G for George" is now preserved at the Australian War Memorial.

G for George

In memory of the landing of Lancaster Bomber "G for George" in Loxton on the Third Victory Tour of Australia during WW2; Loxton the home town of Flight Sergeant Harry Tickle and the reason for landing here. 

"George" had been in his care since it was commissioned in England, and flew 96 raids over occupied territory. 

Harry was the flight engineer in charge of this flight to Australia.

"G for George" is now on display at the Canberra War Museum.
