The trees commemorate those who served in World War Two. A plaque and tree was planted at the site on ANZAC Day 1995 in honour of the trees planted for local soldiers who served in World War Two.

Lameroo has set a fine example to other towns in its tree planting scheme to honour district boys serving in the fighting forces. A tree will be planted in honour of every soldier, sailor or airman who enlisted from Lameroo, or is entitled to recognition as a Lameroo resident. The scheme is underway and during a recent week-end 68 trees were planted in a reserve set aside and prepared for the purpose.

The tree reserve is situated near the railway line adjacent to the Lameroo H. P. School. Wherever possible the next-of-kin of the members of the forces have been asked to plant the tree. Each tree has a solid stake nearby with the soldier's name painted thereon. The Arizona Cypress Pine has been selected as a suitable tree having claims to being able to thrive in very dry areas. The reserve has been fenced in and is being well-cared  for. Members of the RSA have taken a keen interest in the scheme and have played an active part in planting and caring for the trees.
