50th. Anniversary of the End of World War II

No. 43 Landing Craft Company came into existence on 1 December 1943 and commenced training on the island on 6 December that year.

There were seven officers and ninety-seven other ranks.

The Commanding Officer was Major George Mitchell MC, DCM.  Other notable members of the unit were Sir Nigel Bowen, Sir Ninnian Stevens and Sir Frank Packer.
