On this spot in 1944 stood the Administrative Headquarters of 42 Australian Landing Coy. R.A.E. A.I.F.
Originally formed at Victoria Point in the latter half of 1943, the unit moved across to Coochie Mudlo Island to prepare its convoys of landing craft for their long journeys to Cairns and eventually to Bougainville.
These Sailors in Slouch Hats were the seagoing troops of the Royal Australian Engineers.
Dedicated by the Redlands R.S.L. Sub Branch and the Redland Shire Council
