Horsley War MemorialPrint Page
The gates to Horsley Park commemorate those who served in World War Two. The gates were dedicated at an ANZAC Day service on the 27th April 1952 and trees were planted to commemorate Horsley men who died in service or were killed in action.
Horsley War Memorial Committee asked Fairfield Council at its last meeting for permission to name the park at Horsley, "Horsley War Memorial Park" and to erect side pillars with swinging gates and an archway over the gates bearing the words "Horsley War Memorial Park," in memory of the citizens of Horsley who served in the recent world war. Council acceded to the request, subject to not receiving any valid objection from the Ratepayers' Association, whom, Alderman Edwards stated, as being one the movers for the Park at Horsley.
