The wooden honour roll commemorates those from Coorabie and Districts who served in World War Two.

An honour roll, commemorating those who had served with the fighting forces during the last war, was unveiled before a large gathering at an impressive ceremony in the Coorabie hall on July 17. After the National Anthem, an appropriate address was given by Mr. R. Nicol. The unveiling was performed by the oldest resident in the district (Mrs. P. J. Riddle), who is 81 and a mother of three ex-servicemen, one a winner of the MM.

On the honour roll were inscribed 45 names of whom three had paid the supreme sacrifice—Pte. Bill Giles and Pte. Jeff Hobbs, killed in action in the islands, and Sgt. Frank Reid, who died a P.O.W. in Japanese hands. The roll included servicemen from Bookabie, Coorabie, Tallala, Nundroo, Wookata, and Fowler's Bay.

An old digger (Mr. S. M. Young) recited the "'Ode to the Fallen," after which each ex-serviceman was presented with a beautiful, framed scroll in recognition of his services to his country. The ceremony concluded with the "Song of Australia" sung by the Coorabie school children. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. The arrangements were in the bands of a committee comprising Mesdames Bastian, M. F. Fox and Messrs. J. Murray, S. M. Young and A. Hardy.
