Monto Shire Honour RollPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those from the Shire who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two.
A large number of town and district residents gathered at the Monto RSL Memorial Club flagpole at 6 a.m. to participate in the Anzac Day dawn service. The president of the sub-branch, Mr H. E. Johnson, delivered a short address and this service was conducted by the Rev. G. Welch, Presbyterian minister. Late in the morning in the presence of a large gathering of next-of-kin and residents Lt-Col. C. W. Davidson, MHR, unveiled a bronze tablet in the RSL Memorial Club Rooms in memory of the 36 men who enlisted from the Monto Shire in World War II and who paid the supreme sacrifice.
