Crystal Brook District Roll of HonourPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates men and women of the District who served in World War Two.
At a public meeting in Crystal Brook Council Chambers it was decided to compile a district honor roll. The following were elected to a.committee to prepare the roll:—Messrs. P.S O'Shaughnessy (chairman of district council), H. B Chapman (president of local sub-branch of Returned Servicemen's League), H. Willington (president of local branch of Fathers' Association), Mrs. A. E.Thomas, (president of Crystal Brook Girls' Club), Messrs. W. Robinson, H. L. Cottle, and B. K. Hosking. It was decided that the roll should include the names of all who had entered His Majesty's service and those whose parents had resided in the district during the war. The roll will be presented by the district council and placed in Institute Hall. Mr Hosking, who is minute secretary of the committee, will be pleased to receive names and particulars of eligible for inclusion.

In the presence of a large number of citizens Mesdames Sims, Inglis, and Forgan, mothers of servicemen who made the supreme sacrifice, unveiled an honor roll to members of the forces who enlisted at Crystal Brook. Two hundred and fourteen names had been inscribed. Mr. C. G. Davidson (chairman of Crystal Brook District Council), who presided at the impressive ceremony, introduced Brig. Burrows, who gave an address. Mr. W. G. Inglis (president of the local sub-branch of Returned Servicemen's League) offered a prayer of remembrance and recited the ode. "Last Post" and "Reveille"were sounded by Mr. R. Papandrea.
