Cherryville Honour Roll Print Page
The photographic honour roll commemorates those who served in World War Two. The roll was originally located in the church.
On Sunday, 2nd inst., the district honor roll (which is hung in the church) was unveiled. Rev. Cook arranged a splendid and inspiring service and gave an inspiring address. The Premier performed the unveiling ceremony and spoke a few words appropriate for the occasion. Two minutes' silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives from this district. The President of the R.S.L., Mr. L.Sprigg, recited the ode and laid a laurel wreath at the foot of the honor roll.
The roll has on it a photo, as well as the name of each boy and girl who enlisted from here. A beautiful solo "Nearer my God to Thee," was sung by Rev. Cook. The church was filled to over flowing and many extra seats were provided. The church was decorated by several young ladies and looked very attractive with large bowls of blue and white agapanthus and contrasting shades of gladioli.
