28-September-2015
Photographs supplied by Tim Fitzgerald
The book commemorates those connected with the Education Department who served in World War Two.
The book was produced as a record of great importance, expressing the significance of the work which teachers (overseas and at home) and scholars in the schools undertook during the War, and points the way of service and sacrifice for all time. A copy was placed in every school in Victoria. One was given to every soldier teacher, and one to the next of kin of those of the teachers.
Note : The books originated during World War One and separate books were issued for World War Two.
