Thulimbah Roll of HonourPrint Page
The wooden roll of honour commemorates those from Thulimbah who served in World War Two.
"It is a good thing to raise a memorial hall and crown it with an honour board with the names of enlisted men before us all the time," said the Rev. Parks in a speech at the Thulimbah Hall.
"The whole community," he continued, "owe their gratitude to those who served their duty, especially to those who did not return. The need for keeping alive the memory was a very real thing to those who were closely associated with the wounded and the dead." He then unveiled the honour board, and continued with the words; "They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning; we shall remember them." The Last Post was then played and a minute silence, marked the end of the ceremony.
