The H.M.A.S. Sydney Victory Plaque was presented by the City of Sydney to commemorate the victory of the H.M.A.S Sydney over the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni during World War Two. The original plaque was placed on the gun turret of the Sydney and a duplicate plaque placed in the Sydney Town Hall. The plaque shows the Sydney at full speed and its reverse is the commemoration.

The plaque presented by the citizens of Sydney to HMAS Sydney, to commemorate her victory over the Bartolomeo Colleoni, is now attached to the gun turret on the quarter-deck of the cruiser, and was unveiled by the Lord Major yesterday morning. A duplicate of the plaque will be set up in the Town Hall.  The result was a moment of spontaneous determination on the part of all people to express in practical form, as soon as opportunity permitted, the pride and gratitude of the citizens of Sydney whose name the gallant ship bears.

The Citizens of Sydney Organising Committee opened a fund in older to make clear its representative character the collection was called the HMAS Sydney 'Bob in' Fund, and shillings rolled in not only from within New South Wales but from every State in Australia. Later when the procession reached the Town Hall Alderman Crick presented replicas of the plaque in the form of medallions to 10 representatives of units of the ship's company.
