Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

St Jude`s Alphington Honour Roll Print Page

The honour roll commemorates those connected with the church who served in World War One.
St. Jude's Church of England, Alphington, was filled to overflowing on Sunday morning last, the occasion being the unveiling of the honor board, containing the names of those who have gone to do battle for those who are dearest to them. Mr Adams, one of the oldest residents of the district, unveiled the honor board, the vicar (Rev. C. P. Lee), spoke a few words on the sterling character of those who had paid the supreme sacrifice. Staff-sergt. Rev. G. Cox delivered a fitting sermon, and the choir rendered appropriate hymns. In response to an invitation the shire council was represented by Crs. Bryant, Ball, Hannah, May, Pitcher, and the shire secretary (Mr Price).
Heidelberg News and Greensborough, Eltham and Diamond Creek Chronicle (Vic), 10 November 1917.
