Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially. In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

South Australian Members of the 5th Railway Unit Honour RollPrint Page

The honour roll contains the names of the South Australian members of the 5th Railway Unit who were on board transport ship H.M.A.T. Ascanius in 1917 during World War One.
The roll is a hand drawn board comprising at the top an effigy of a transport ship between the flags of Australia and Britain; in the centre is a three pillar classic style edifice between which are names in Old English font; painted gold. Either side of the pillars are effigies of a locomotive and carriage.
