Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Toowoomba Grammar School Honour RollPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates former students who served in World War One.
The Honour Roll was unveiled at the school on the 22nd May 1917 by Mrs F. Freshney. The honour board is a big imposing design and measures about 8ft by 10ft. The base is of gunmetal or hammered copper and the board is of panel design. the whole is surmounted by the school shield under which is inscribed in Latin, " On this tablet are engraven the names the names of those old boys of this school, who, in the greatest war of all history, have voluntarily given some their lives, others their blood, all their best, that we and our country may be free." At the time of the unveiling there were just over 300 names on the board.
