Detention District Roll of HonourPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those from the district who served in World War One.
On Thursday afternoon, in the presence of a large gathering of residents, the local roll of honour was unveiled by Mrs. A. Dennis, supported by Councillors Spicer and Boys. The roll contains upwards of 50 names, and is a magnificent piece of work. The board is of solid figured blackwood, mounted with the Australian coat of arms and the rising sun, with a plate glass front covering the lettering, which is in gold.
Examiner (Launceston), 31st October 1919
Note : the “Tasmanian War Memorials Data Base” , compiled by Fred Thornett which is located at the State Library of Tasmania, contains a comprehensive listing of the names on this honour roll.
