New Town Methodist Church Roll of HonourPrint Page
The wooden roll of honour commemorates those from the church congregation who served in World War One.
On Tuesday night a very enjoyable past and present Sunday School scholars social was held, under the chairmanship of Mr. H. Field Marsh (superintendent of the school). At the close of the evening's programme an honour roll, containing the names of 41 men who have enlisted from New Town Methodist Church, was unveiled by Rev. J. L. Haslam.
Of the men who have joined the colours from New Town Methodist Church seven have made the supreme sacrifice. The roll was beautifully executed in polished blackwood by Messrs. Brownell Bros, and French and Son.
The Mercury (Hobart), 28th October 1916.
Note : The “Tasmanian War Memorials Data Base”, compiled by Fred Thornett which is located at the State Library of Tasmania, contains a comprehensive listing of the names on this honour roll.
