Tarwonga Honour RollPrint Page Print this page

The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War One.

Tarwonga Tidings.
On Wednesday evening last, 11th inst. a large number of the residents met at the hall, to witness the unveiling of our Roll of honor by the Member for the district (Mr E. B. Johnston), who made a very nice speech, and said we might well feel proud to know that we had sent twenty nine heroes, to fight for those they left behind them. One mother had four sons names on our Roll (Mrs Geo. Lucas) and he knew she was a proud woman that night. Mr Johnston also referred very feelingly to the two of our boys who would not return (Geo. Orr and Jack Padley). A number of patriotic songs were were sung by Mrs C. E. Richards, Miss Ruth Lucas, Messrs Atherton, Darlie and Thompson, and Mrs Hibble of Darkan. A very dainty supper was served, and the singing of the National Anthem brought a long-to-be-remembered evening to close.
