Burran Rock District Honour RollPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates 30 men from the District who served in World War One.
Burran Rock.
Saturday, September 9th, being the first anniversary of the opening of the Soldiers' Memorial Hall, it was celebrated by holding a plain and fancy dress ball. During the afternoon the Premier (Sir James Mitchell) unveiled an Honor Board bearing the names of the men from the surrounding districts who served in the Great war, and he said what a pleasure it was to him to perform this ceremony as he had the pleasure of performing the opening ceremony exactly twelve months before. He spoke of the vital importance of preparedness for war in times of peace, the urgent necessity of a greater population, and the need to double our acreage under crop and of our various exports.
