The park commemorates those who served in World War One.
Yankalilla, February 6. The official opening of the Soldiers Memorial Park, was held on Monday. The opening ceremony consisted of a series of fine patriotic pageants, tableaus, and choruses representing England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Africa, India, New Zealand, Australia, the army and the navy, arranged by Mrs. E. Baldwin who was assisted by children drawn from all parts of the district with Mrs. E. Lawson as pianist.
The area of land comprised in the memorial park is 75 acres. The committee was fortunate in securing the services Mr. Scott Griffith, who has drawn a comprehensive plan for the utilization of all the land. Included in the scheme is ample provision for football, cricket, tennis, golf, and other recreations, also model children's playgrounds, with all conveniences. It promises, when complete, to be one of the finest memorials in the State.
