District of Dalkey Roll of HonourPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those from Dalkey and District who served in World War One.
The unveiling of the Roll of Honor of men who have gone to the front from Dalkey District took place on Wednesday evening, at the Owen Institute. There was a very large attendance, the hall being filled to overflowing. The board was the donation of Mr A H. Richards, and the unveiling was performed by Mrs Richards in a few well-chosen words. Mr and Mrs Richards have a son at the front. The arrangements were well carried out, under the supervision of the Institute Committee with Mr R, A. Rehder as secretary.
The Premier was entertained at dinner at the Wooroora Hotel by members of the district council and the institute committee. Mr W. J. Marshman (president of the institute) occupied the chair. Mr R Richards, on behalf of his father, formally presented the roll of honour. Mr James McLachlan accepted the gift on behalf of the institute. Musical items were given by Miss Burman (Broken Hill) and Miss Lavis (Adelaide). Miss Burman contributed elocutionary items. Supper was provided.
