Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Gumeracha School Honour RollPrint Page

The brass honour roll commemorates former students of the Gumeracha School who served in World War One.
There was a large gathering at the unveiling of a roll of honor to the old scholars of the Gumeracha school, 50 of whom answered the call to duty. The Attorney-General (Hon. H. N. Barwell) performed the unveiling ceremony, and made a speech dealing with the war and repatriation. Mrs. T. Stott, sen., aged 86 years, the mother of two sons who had been to the front, assisted in the unveiling of the honor roll by removing the flag.
The Advertiser (Adelaide), 24th February 1919.
