The monument commemorates those who served in World War One. The statue was imported from Italy and erected by Mr. G. E. Morgan, monumental mason of Adelaide.
The war memorial was unveiled on the 5th July 1925 by Brigadier-General S. Price Weir in the presence of a large assemblage. The Brigadier unveiled the memorial with the words "To the Glory of God and in sacred remembrance of the 14 soldiers of this town and district, who, in the Great War, made the supreme sacrifice, I unveil this monument. " This act was followed by two minutes silence.
