The honour roll commemorates those connected with the church who served in World War One.

Hexham Roll of Honor. There was an unusually large congregation at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon last, the occasion being the unveiling of the congregational Honor Roll, At the close of the sermon the preacher, the Rev. W. M'Bride, said "And now a few words in connection with this beautiful roll. It is the patriotic gift to the church by one of our people. It contains the names of nine young men who have gone from this congregation. There may be other names that should be in this place of honor and if so such will be inserted immediately they are known. There are others of whom we know who have recently volunteered and still others who may yet volunteer.

All such names will be duly added. In the meantime, as a congregation of our church we feel pardonably proud of such a comparatively big roll of our young manhood, who have willingly offered themselves to fight, and if needs be to die at their country's call. Hexham has responded right nobly. He ventured to say that in proportion to the size of the town, compared favorably with any other town in the Commonwealth. They humbly prayed that all may be spared to return to the place of their childhood. But if in the providence of God some should fall, may theirs be the victory, even in death through Him who is the Captain of our salvation Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The honor roll would be a record of honorable service on the part of those young men any one of whom will be able to say with Gordon of Khartoum, "I have tried to do my duty." As the Union Jack was slowly drawn aside and the Roll uncovered, the congregation rose and sang the National Anthem and the now well-known lines "God Save our splendid men." The following are the names :— R. W. Urquhart, J. Cooper. C. Johnston. K. M'Donald. D. M'Kenzie. D. M'Donald. J. Tomlins. K. Urquhart.
