State School Honor Roll
On Thursday night last a meeting of subscribers to the Mirboo North State School Honor Roll Fund was held in the Mechanics' Institute, when there were present :—Messrs Price (chairman), Green, Mitchell, Gardiner, Hipwell, Youll, Verdon, Lyons and Waters. Several catalogues of boards were submitted by Mr Mitchell, which he had obtained from Melbourne firms. Those present unanimously favored one 4ft. in depth and 5ft. across. The board with a lot of fine wood was quoted at £27 10s. Without the fine wood, the board could be had for £20.
The names would cost is 6d each extra. Mr Green said the committee had in hand close on £30. There would be, about 100 names on the roll, which would mean an extra £7 10s. It was decided to make an appeal through the "Gippslander" for the rest of the money. If it cannot be obtained in this manner, an entertainment will be held. It was thought as so much money was being spent, a really good board should be obtained.
