The Avenue of Honour of elm trees was planted in 1919 to commemorate those who served in World War One.
A meeting was held in March 1919 for the purpose of planting an honour avenue for the soldiers who went abroad during the First World War. It was decided to plant the trees on the main road and subscription lists were opened and a total of ₤13 was subscribed by those present. Mr Gunning was elected secretary of the committee.
