60 Fallen Soldiers (2016)
This artwork commemorates the 60 soldiers from the Shire of Werribee who fell during World War 1. Their ultimate sacrifice demonstrates the spirit of the ANZAC: mateship, loyalty, courage, love of country, integrity, endurance, faith
and strength.
Carrier pigeons are well known for their loyalty, courage and endurance. Their use in World War 1 was extensive and their impact significant. In this artwork, there are 60 carrier pigeons, each representing one of the young men lost in the war.
With pride and gratitude, we acknowledge the families of the fallen, who still reside in the City of Wyndham, their loss and their legacy.
