The mosaic tablet commemorates those from the Royal Australian Navy Flotilla who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.
CRIB POINT, Wednesday-Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Forster, attended by Lord Digby, visited the Naval Base at Flinders today for the purpose of unveiling a memorial to men of the navy who lost their lives in the war. The visitors were met by Captain Hardy (First Naval Member of the Naval Board), Captain E. R. Miller (superintendent of training), Commander Thornton, and a naval guard of honour. After the ceremony, the party was entertained at lunch by Captain and Mrs. Miller. In the afternoon His Excellency presented more than 300 war medals to members of the ship's company on the parade-ground, and addressed the officers and men in the drill hall, in the presence of about 1,500 persons. When he opened a cricket pitch for the officers of the depot, His Excellency bowled the first ball. The party returned to the city at a quarter past 2 o'clock.
