Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

" Spirit of the Light Horse" - ANZAC Centenary SculpturePrint Page

The sculpture commemorates the centenary of ANZAC and those who served in World War One.
Samson, the major sculpture was created by artist, Sue Tilley, from a range of vintage metal objects collected locally. Samson, together with the surrounding Light Horse Brigade silhouettes, form a prominent tribute to the spirit of the ANZACs.
Funding was received through Anzac Centenary Grants Program. Additional funding was received through the Armistice Centenary Grants Program to create a shellac mosaic poppy path to lead up to the main sculpture.
Note: The sculpture is located in the grounds of the RSL which is now closed.
