Kurri Kurri Methodist Church Roll of HonourPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those connected with the church who served in World War One. The roll was unveiled in 1916 with additional names being added at a later date.
In 2017, the board was restored and moved from Kurri Kurri Uniting Church to Weston Uniting Church.
A roll of honour showing the names of 84 members of the Kurri Kurri Methodist Church who have volunteered for active service, was unveiled in the church on Christmas night by Mrs. Gilsenan, in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends. The Rev. D. A. Gilsenan, who presided, paid a tribute to the heroism of the men who had gone in the service of their country. Four had paid that supreme price, some had returned wounded, but the majority were still on duty for the Empire. They owed it to the Girls' League that the roll was being unveiled. On the motion of Mr. W. Johnson, seconded by Mr. John Lamb, a vote of thanks was accorded the Girls' League for their splendid services in securing the roll. A programme of musical items was contributed by the Girls' League, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Greenwell, Miss R. Hestolow, Messrs. E. Jacobs, C. Gilsenan, and Easton.
