The plaque and flagpole were erected by the Colac Legacy Club to commemorate 100 years of ANZAC and those who fought in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The centenary of ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) commemorates the landings at Gallipoli in Turkey in April 1915 during World War One.   The Centenary of ANZAC also commemorates 100 years of service and sacrifice by Australian service men and women in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations since World War One.
