St John`s Memorial WindowsPrint Page Print this page

The stained glass windows were donated to the church in memory of those who served at Gallipoli in World War One.

Good congregations attended the special services of intercession for the Empire at the Church of St. John the Evangelist on Sunday last. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated at 8 a.m., and at 11 a.m: the Rev. Frank Ingle, B.S.P., Priest-in-Charge, solemnly dedicated three windows presented to the church by Mrs. Coombs. The names of the windows are Gallipoli, Anzac, and Lonesome Pine. The preacher at evensong was the Rev. Canon McDonnell. A similar service was held at St. Andrew's, Tarago.
