Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Newstead Co-Operative Butter Factory Honour Roll Print Page

The honour roll commemorates employees of the butter factory who served in World War One.
Newstead Butter Factory.
The local butter factory still continues to turn out a good quantity of butter, despite the dry season. Cream is received here from the farthest towns in the mallee. The new factory is nearly completed.
HONOR ROLL.
An honor roll of Harcourt granite has been built into the wall of the Building, and it bears the names of fourteen men who were employed in the factory prior to enlistment. Eight of them laid down their lives.
Ballarat Star (Vic.), 6 May 1920.
