The monument commemorates the centenary of the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) landing at Gallipoli in Turkey in April 1915 and those from the Esk-Somerset district who served in World War One.   

Funding of $11990 was received in March 2015 through the ANZAC Centenary Grant for the erection of the memorial depicting the 100th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landing.
