The wooden honour roll commemorates those from Lobethal who volunteered to serve in World War One.

It was unveiled in 1917 at the Lobethal Institute and was moved to the Lobethal Centennial Hall.

The unveiling of the Lobethal roll of honour, containing the names of 33 local volunteers for the war, was performed at the Institute on Sunday afternoon. The Revs. H. Thompson, of Mount Barker (Presbyterian), F. W. Wilkinson, of Mount Pleasant Church of England, and E. Schulz, of Lobethal (Lutheran) delivered impressive addresses.

Mrs. A. Watkins, an old resident, 82 years of age, who can claim the highest number of family representatives at the front for this district, unveiled the roll—an artistic piece of workmanship by Mr. G. Pfeiffer, of Lobethal, and given by him to his fellow-members of the local Soldiers' Farewell Committee, who, with Messrs. A. Moore (chairman), A. Watkins (secretary), O. Stabernack (treasurer), in conjunction with the local Ladies' Soldiers' Comforts Club, had charge of the arrangements. The anthems, "Babylon's Wave." "Sun of my Soul," and "Crossing the Bar," were rendered by the local Presbyterian Church Choir, assisted by Mrs. H. Thiele, Miss Edna Thiele, Miss Viola Brauer, and Mr. Herbett Schubert. The conductor and pianist was Mrs. W. Redpath.
