Upper Copmanhurst Honour RollPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those who have served in World War One.
A large gathering assembled at the Literary Institute Hall on Saturday last, the occasion being the unveiling of a soldiers` honor board. The chairman, Mr. John Fahey, said he was pleased to see such aa large gathering to do honour to the boys who went to the front to fight for the unity of the Empire in the great war. Thirteen had been farewelled from Upper Copmanhurst and he was pleased to think that they all returned, one with the M.M. He called upon Mrs. John Phemister to unveil the honor board, which she did amidst cheers. Afternoon tea was then served up by the ladies, who deserved credit for the nice decorations. A dance was held at night when the hall was packed.
