Pomonal Honour RollPrint Page
The wooden honour roll and gaslight commemorate those who served in World War One.
This board replaced an earlier parchment scroll made by a female teacher at the Pomonal State School. There was also a ceremonial gas lantern used for lighting at the hall prior to electricity being available. The original parchment scroll has been lost, and 5 names on the original school roll are not included on the current roll. Two men who didn't move to the district until the mid 1920s are included on this roll. The photo of the men (see image 3) is the only known photo of the lantern and the occasion was its last night in use as it was then turned off by the State Electricity Commission.
