A committee meeting was held on Tuesday night last. As this was the first meeting of the committee the election of office bearers was the first business, the following being appointed --Chairman of committee, Mr. F. Jacobs; treasurer. G. S. Docking ; Secretary. Mr. W. Turner. There were only 7 of the 12 members present. It was decided not to utilise the grazing rights of the Recreation Ground for any stock other than sheep. The old secretary was instructed to interview Mr. J. Haas as to the cost of removing timber to the Recreation Ground, as the committee have decided to have refreshments and dressing rooms erected in the near future. It was also decided to hold Soldiers Memorial Annual Bazaar on 24th, 25th and 27th of this month, Messrs Morgan and Turner being appointed secretaries for same. Each of the ladies on the committee were appointed to the charge of a stall, which they have accepted with two exceptions. It is considered the duty of all residents of the district to help to the best of their ability to provide funds for this object, as besides being a soldiers memorial, it will be a place of recreation for the rising generation, and therefore should appeal to all interested in the welfare of this district.
