Photographs supplied by Tim Fitzgerald
The honour roll commemorates former students and headmaster of the school who served in World War One.
The unveiling of the Honor Roll of the Massey State School, No 1907, took place on Friday, November 30, when about 100 persons assembled to witness the unveiling ceremony. Cr Lavery occupied the chair. Songs, recitations, and dialogues were provided by the children and friends. Just before the interval, Cr Lavery gave a stirring patriotic address, at the conclusion of which he called upon Mrs E. Richards to perform the ceremony of unveiling the Honor Roll, which already has on it the names of nine former scholars and headmaster. After the unveiling ceremony, Cr Green and Mr A. Johnson gave addresses in which they spoke eulogistically of the men whose names appeared on the board and also of the parents who had reared such noble sons. At the termination of the programme, supper was provided, thus bringing to a close a very enjoyable evening.
