The brush box tree (Lophostemon confertus) planted in 1922 commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.

An idientical sign has been placed on a tree in Numbaa however the Trove information states that the tree was planted in Pyree opposite the Literary Institute on a triangle of land.
