The hall commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. The foundation stone for the building was laid in May 1924.
The opening date of the Soldiers' Memorial Institute at Balhannah has been fixed for October 4 (Saturday), and the ceremony is to be performed by Col. C. P. Butler, president of the R.S. & S.I. League of S.A., at 3 o'clock and addresses are to be given by different speakers and at the conclusion of the speeches a fete, tea, and promenade concert will follow at the Parish Hall.
