Dolphins Point was named to commemorate members of the Coogee Dolphins Rugby League Football team who were the victims of the terrorist bombing in Bali, Indonesia in October 2002.

This headland named in memory of the six Coogee Dolphins A Grade Amateur Rugby League players who were among those tragically killed in Kuta, Bali on the 12th October 2002.
