The honour roll commemorates those from the district who served in World War One and World War Two.

It formed part of the front of the Institute stage and was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War One. The names of those who served in World War Two were added at a later date. 

The Tailem Bend Institute Hall was not large enough on Saturday evening to accomodate the crowd who desired to witness the unveiling of the memorial to the soldiers who enlisted from the district. The memorial forms an entirely new front to the institute stage. The design was prepared by Messrs. A. Pengelley & Co., of Edwardstown, who did the work in Australian oak. Over each of the door to the the A.I.F. coat of arms is carved. In the centre of the arch is a wreath, inside which are the letters S.M. (soldiers' memorial), with the words Tailem Bend and District Soldiers' Memorial.'

On the panels are honor rolls, containing 77 names. Ten soldiers made the supreme sacrifice and over these ten names are small gold crowns. There is a green curtain with a heliotrope bordering — the green for remembrance, and the heliotrope as a sign of respect for the dead.  The unveiling ceremony was performed by Mr. F.M. McMillan, M.P.
